Glass Repair UAE

Emergency glass repair for homes and businesses

A shattered pane at night, a shopfront cracked by impact, or a balcony panel that failed in a wind event all need the same first moves: isolate the opening, protect people from shards, and decide whether a temporary board-up or a same-day unit is the safer path. This page explains how emergency glass work is scoped in the UAE climate, which failures cannot wait, and how we attend villas, apartments, offices and retail fronts without a public workshop visit.

What counts as an emergency pane

Treat the opening as urgent when glass has fallen inward, when a door no longer latches because the leaf is unbalanced, or when a shopfront is open to the street. Tempered doors that dicing into crumbs look dramatic but often leave a clean hole that can be boarded quickly. Laminated windshield-style panes used on some railings may crack while remaining in the gasket; those still need isolation because the interlayer can sag in UAE heat. Foggy double-glazed units are uncomfortable, not usually an after-hours emergency, unless a pane has actually blown out of the frame. Water reaching electrical switches beside a broken kitchen splashback is urgent for a different reason than aesthetics. If children or staff must keep using the room, we plan a board-up first and a measured replacement after the opening is safe.

First actions before a technician arrives

Do not pick large shards with bare hands. Close interior doors so glass dust does not travel through the air-conditioning return. If the pane is a shower screen, shut the water and keep the tray dry so silicone later has a chance to cure. For shopfronts, move stock away from the reveal and photograph the lock side; many after-hours failures start at the patch fitting, not in the middle of the glass. Tell us the emirate, the floor level, and whether parking is a loading bay or a villa driveway. High-rise attendance may need building security access, a service lift booking, or a time window from the owners association. Those logistics determine whether we can close the opening on the first visit or must board and return with a factory-sized lite.

Board-up versus same-visit replacement

A plywood or polycarbonate board-up is the right call when the night is windy, when the glass type is unknown, or when the opening is a structural curtain-wall unit that should not be guessed. Same-visit replacement is realistic for common villa window sizes, many interior doors, and some shower panels if thickness, edgework and hole positions can be confirmed on site. We never cut a tempered lite in the driveway; tempered glass is cut and then furnace-treated. That is why a true emergency often ends with a secure board and a scheduled install, not a miracle pane from a scrap rack. If the failed glass was laminated and still hanging, we may strap and tape it so the interlayer does not peel in the sun until the replacement arrives.

How an emergency attendance usually runs

On arrival we sweep a safe corridor, check for live edges, and identify the glass: annealed, tempered, laminated, or an insulated glass unit. We measure the rebate, not only the visible pane, because a lite that looks square in the room can be out of square in the aluminium. Hardware is photographed: patches, pivots, sliding rollers, or pressure plates on a facade. If a replacement can be produced from stock thickness with a polished edge, we confirm the hole positions for handles before anyone leaves to process the glass. If not, the opening is boarded, edges are taped, and you receive a written scope: glass type, thickness, any film or tint, and the access note for the next visit. We do not quote a fake clock time for factory tempering; we give a range that depends on size, shape and whether the unit is a double-glazed make-up.

Materials that survive UAE heat after a breakage

Emergency replacements still have to live in 45°C roof-level sun and sandy wind. Interior doors are usually 10 or 12 mm tempered with polished edges. Shower returns that failed at a hinge hole need the same tempering and often a re-drilled patch location so the old fatigue point is not reused. Shopfronts may be 12 mm tempered or laminated depending on the span and the insurer’s expectation for the lock rail. Windows that face afternoon west sun are poor candidates for ordinary annealed float if they previously failed from thermal stress; a tempered or heat-strengthened lite is the more honest specification. Insulated units that were punched through by impact must be remade as a sealed pair, not as a single sheet pushed into a double rebate.

Safety notes we will not skip

We do not leave an unattended hole on an upper-floor balcony. We do not ask a resident to hold a large lite while it is offered into a rebate. Ceiling-height shopfront fins and spider fittings belong to a planned visit with the right suction equipment, not a lone night call unless the only task is board-up. If glass has fallen onto a car in a podium parking, we isolate the area rather than chasing every fragment into the garage drain. Pets should be in another room; tempered crumbs look like salt and are still sharp under a paw. After the opening is closed we can discuss recycling of the broken glass; mixed crumbs with silicone are not always accepted by local recyclers, so we bag them separately from clean offcuts.

Typical time ranges, without invented promises

A villa window board-up is often completed in a short first visit once parking is available. A measured interior door that matches a stock thickness may be fitted on a later appointment the same week, depending on polishing and tempering queues. Shaped shower glass, holes for patch fittings, and oversized shopfront lites take longer because they cannot be pulled from a leftover crate. Insulated glass units require a sealed-edge make-up and should not be rushed with a domestic silicone trick that fails in humidity. We would rather tell you that the opening stays boarded for a few days than invent a same-hour tempered pane that cannot physically exist.

Questions people ask

Do you attend after midnight in every emirate?

Night attendance is arranged around access, not around a shop counter. If a building will not admit visitors after a certain hour, we board at the earliest allowed slot and keep the opening safe until then.

Can broken tempered glass be glued overnight?

No. Tempered fragments have already released their stress. Tape and board-up keep people safe; they do not reconstruct a structural door lite.

Will you replace glass without knowing the original type?

We identify the failed pane from fragments, stamps, edge thickness and the frame. Guessing a thinner annealed sheet into a door that should be tempered is not an option we will take.

Is a cracked but standing pane an emergency?

If it is laminated and still bonded, it may wait for a planned swap with temporary tape. If it is annealed and can run, or if it is a door that might collapse, treat it as urgent.

Do you work on hotel and tower common areas?

Yes, when the facilities team grants access and lift protection. Those sites often need a method statement for the board-up even if the final glass arrives later.

Can I drive the broken frame to a workshop?

This is a service-area team. We come to the property. Removing a shopfront frame yourself can damage the lock rail and the adjacent tiles.

What should I photograph before you arrive?

The full opening, the lock or handle side, any logo stamp on a remaining shard, and the floor below so we know if a balcony edge is involved.

Do you publish emergency call-out prices here?

No. Any figure we later send is an indicative range for that opening, access and glass type, labelled as such, not a nationwide price list.
